Hi Postcard Friends,
As we approach the end of the year, I find myself filled with gratefulness for the many blessings in my life. Thank you so much for supporting THE POSTCARD PROJECT. Here is an end-of-the-year wrap up.

What’s New "There's No Place Like Home" - Truxton Hosley Auburn NY Paintings – Postcard Project
What a fun series. For the past two years I have been searching for a Truxton Hosley relative hoping to gain permission to use the images for this postcard series. The wonderful Seymour Library local history librarian (Linn) suggested that I review his obituary and that might guide me. I discovered that son Richard lived in Florida and through an internet search learned he had a house for sale. After a quirky phone call with the realtor, my number was passed along. As you can guess, he said “YES!”
BUGS! - by Zoe Hitchcock – Postcard Project
My granddaughter, Zoe, is an artist. At the end of the summer, we collaborated on a new kid’s postcard series called BUGS! She was instrumental in every step of the process. Many thanks to FINGER LAKES PRESS for allowing Zoe and her sisters to watch how the postcards are printed, cut and padded to make a set. This artist is now thinking about becoming a graphic artist!
Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival – Postcard Project
In my last post I mentioned that I was working with the Siesta Key, Florida Chamber of Commerce developing a postcard series featuring the winning sand sculptures in their annual Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival. Last September, Hurricane Helene hit Siesta Key. With all the damage there was no guarantee that the Crystal Classic would go on! But the show went on! Last November, Bill and I traveled to Siesta Key to see the sculptures in action. It was wonderful. Siesta Key looks a little beat up, but businesses are open, their spirit is alive and positive, and the beach is beautiful!
Projects
• Pen Pals – This past November it was a treat to visit Mrs. Pesarchick 5th grade classroom at Herman Ave Elementary School in Auburn NY to do a presentation on the history of postcards. We linked to Mrs. Carbonaro’s 5th grade in Skaneateles NY. THE POSTCARD PROJECT donated 200 stamped postcards to each 5th grade classroom, and they are embarking on a pen-pal project.
• BOCES – The Postcard Project connected with Cayuga Onondaga BOCES teacher, Terry Cuddy (Graphic Design & Media Instructor) to collaborate on a new “You Know You’re From Auburn” postcard series. It will be fun to discover what they select as postcard worthy from their perspective. Stay tuned …
• Little Free Postcard Mailbox – we are coming to our 1-year anniversary at Hoopes Park. At the end of the year, THE POSTCARD PROJECT will have made a delivery of free postcards (at least 7 cards with one including a stamp) for 52 weeks! What fun, that is over 400 postcards given away. There is a journal in the mailbox and oh the comments … what a gift!

On my website I comment that postcards are “a return to special communication …”and this is a good reminder for me. A few weeks ago, I parted with social media. I experienced an ugly attack; it was hurtful and unacceptable. THE POSTCARD PROJECT has had a fun ride with social media, but it is time to say goodbye. Let’s stay in touch through postcards and this blog.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year Postcard Friends,
